R KELLY TO RELEASE "BE MY #2"

R.Kelly, the multiplatinum selling singer songwriter and R&B icon releases the single “Be My #2”, taken from the album “Untitled” and produced by Jack Splash (Alicia Keys, Missy Elliot, Jennifer Hudson, Britney Spears) in Ireland on2nd  April. This will coincide with his return back across the pond for his first live Irish and UK shows in 8 years for the “Ladies Make Some Noise Tour”.

In 1992, when R Kelly was unknown to the masses, he sold-out two nights in the UK to rave reviews. Within 18 months he was back in the UK to do a record breaking 5 sold-out nights at the Apollo, plus a show in Wolverhampton, due to the phenomenal demand. Now, nearly two decades later, he comes back to these venues with more smash hits under his belt than days in the month. R. Kelly will take us back to the halcyon days of "She's Got That Vibe" through to the timeless party anthem of "Ignition (Remix)" and the feverishly addictive "Trapped In the Closet" along with all his other top R&B masterpieces and of course material from his new record, "Untitled".

FULL UK / IE TOUR DATES:
5th April - Manchester, Apollo
7th April - Dublin, Grand Canal Theatre
9th April - London, Hammersmith HMV Apollo
10th April - London, Hammersmith HMV Apollo
11th April - Wolverhampton Civic Hall

In a career spanning 20 years, R. Kelly has possessed a musical Midas touch, selling a staggering 50 million records across the world, with over 30 hit singles in the UK alone (including ‘Bump n’ Grind’, ‘She’s Got That Vibe’, ‘Step In The Name Of Love’, ‘Ignition Remix’) while writing and producing hits for a wide range of superstars including Michael Jackson, Ciara, Britney Spears and The Isley Brothers. R. Kelly also recently wrote the international comeback hit single ‘I Look to You’ for Whitney Houston solidifying her eagerly awaited return to superstar status. His most recent solo album “Untitled” has been hailed by R&B fans as another classic and the album hit the top of the Billboard Top R&B / Hip-Hop Albums chart at the end of 2009.

In 2005, with his natural ability to write hit after hit record internationally recognised, R. Kelly turned his attention to film and created one of the greatest musical soap opera’s ever, ‘Trapped in the Closet’. Initially created as a three part series added to his seventh studio album “TP3.com”, the short films grabbed R.Kellys existing audience and gained him a huge new audience as people became feverishly addicted to the sensational storyline and fantastic characters Kelly had created for Trapped…. Media reaction in the UK likened it to a “ghetto version of The Archers” and influential columnist Charlie Brooker has since come out as a fan. If you include the online parodies and tributes via YouTube (South Park, Mad TV, Weird Al Yankovic, etc), added to the official online viewing figures, Trapped….has been viewed HUNDREDS of MILLIONS of times online ….that’s a phenomenon.

R. Kelly is a genius of our time and the rare chance to see him live is not to be missed. This is an event.
